Art Talk: Michael Brenson on David Smith | 1:30 p.m.
2001 Flora Street Dallas, Texas 75201
Author and critic Michael Brenson offers new insight into sculptor David Smith, an artist he describes as "ferociously resistant to the notion of singular identity." Smith, a pioneer of Abstract Expressionism, did more than any other sculptor of his era to bring the plastic arts to the forefront of the American scene. So groundbreaking and prolific were his contributions to American art that by the time Smith was just forty years old, Clement Greenberg was already calling him “the greatest sculptor this country has produced.” Registration is FREE for Nasher Members and students; $10 for non-members (includes museum admission). In-person and open to the public. Advance registration required (limited seating available).
